Kitchen Plumbing

• Tap replacement. Upgrading from a tired old twin-tap set to a modern pull-out mixer transforms the functionality of your kitchen. We install all brands and types, including filtered water taps, boiling water taps (Zip, Billi, Puratap) and commercial-style spring-neck taps.

• Sink replacement. Whether you are upgrading to a larger undermount sink, adding a butler’s sink or replacing a chipped drop-in, we disconnect the old sink, modify pipework as needed and install the new one with proper waste connections.

• Dishwasher connection. We connect new dishwashers to the hot water supply and waste system, including installing a dedicated isolation valve and checking that the waste connection includes an air break to prevent backflow.

• Waste and drainage. Slow kitchen drains are often caused by grease build-up in the trap or branch waste line. We clear the blockage, clean the trap and advise on preventing recurrence.

Laundry Plumbing

Laundry plumbing is often neglected until a washing machine hose bursts and floods the house. We recommend proactive maintenance and upgrades:

• Washing machine tap replacement. Old brass taps with rubber washers are the most common failure point. We replace them with quarter-turn ceramic disc taps that are less likely to fail and easier to shut off in an emergency.

• Hose replacement. Standard rubber washing machine hoses have a lifespan of about five years. We replace them with braided stainless steel hoses that are burst-resistant and last much longer.

• Laundry tub installation. We install new laundry tubs and troughs, including wall-mounted and freestanding models, with mixer taps and proper waste connections.

• Drain line clearing. Lint, soap and fabric softener build up in laundry drain lines over time. We clear blockages and can install lint traps to prevent recurrence.

Pipe Repairs and Replacement

Pipes deteriorate over time. Copper pipes corrode, galvanised pipes rust from the inside, and even PVC pipes can crack from ground movement or UV exposure. We repair and replace all types of pipework:

• Copper pipe repairs. Pinhole leaks, joint failures and corroded sections are repaired using quality copper fittings soldered to AS/NZS 3500 standards.

• Galvanised pipe replacement. If your Eastern Suburbs home still has original galvanised water pipes (common in pre-1970s homes across Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Paddington), we recommend replacing them with copper or PEX-A. Galvanised pipes corrode internally, reducing water pressure and introducing rust into your water.

• PEX-A repiping. For full or partial repiping, PEX-A (cross-linked polyethylene) is an excellent modern alternative. It is flexible, corrosion-resistant, quieter than copper (no water hammer) and faster to install, which reduces labour costs.

Water Pressure Issues

Low water pressure is one of the most common plumbing complaints we hear from Eastern Suburbs residents. Causes include:

• Corroded galvanised pipes restricting flow (the most common cause in older homes).
• Faulty pressure-reducing valve on the incoming main.
